General Recommendation of the Committee of Expert of the MESECVI (nº5): Gender-based violence against Afro-descendant women. (MESECVI, 2024)

Afro-descendent women are particularly exposed to multiple forms of gender- and race-based violence throughout their lives compared to other groups of women. 

In its fifth General Recommendation, the Committee of Experts addresses the specific forms of violence faced by Afro-descendant women, emphasizing the importance of studying, preventing, addressing, and attending to this issue from an ethnic-racial, human rights, gender, and intersectional approach. 

This General Recommendation was developed with the support of the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA).
