Declaration on Democracy, Climate emergency, Digital environments, and New forms of Violence against Women

Overview

In this Declaration, adopted during the Tenth Conference of States Parties of the MESECVI, held in Fortaleza, Brazil, the Competent National Authorities reaffirm their commitment to the eradication of all forms of violence against women, adolescents, and girls, recognizing the structural links between democracy, the climate emergency, digital environments, and emerging manifestations of gender-based violence. They further agree to advance comprehensive responses, grounded in a gender, intersectional, intercultural, and territorial approach, aimed at ensuring the full enjoyment and exercise of the human rights of women in all their diversity and throughout their life cycle.

The Declaration consolidates regional consensus to strengthen paritary democracy, promote full and safe digital citizenship, and ensure the effective participation of women—particularly those in situations of heightened vulnerability—in decision-making processes addressing contemporary challenges, reaffirming the highest standards of the Inter-American human rights system.
